General background
I attended ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ and obtained a B.A. In Psychology with a clinical counseling concentration. After I graduated from WC in 2017, I then attended Walden University to get my M.S. in Clinical Counseling which allowed me to get my clinical license as an LCPC.
Why did you want to be a counselor?
I always felt that I was the friend that everyone came to for advice/to vent/support and I felt very fulfilled in that role. Where things took a turn toward the idea of counseling was in high school when I took my first psychology class. I was fascinated by the content. I took the interest in psychology and my current role within my friend groups, put them together, and came up with counseling. That more I learned, the stronger my desire to be a counselor became.
What is your favorite self-care activity?
My favorite form of self-care is getting outside. Breathing in fresh air, tuning in to my surroundings, and just slowing things down.
What is your best piece of advice for students who are struggling to reach out for help?
More often than not, I hear from students that taking the step to reach out for help is the hardest part. If you find yourself struggling to do so, I recommend leaning into your support system to help you reach out. It can feel less intimidating when you have others there to help you through the process and encourage you. It has also been helpful for our students to know that they can request a counseling appointment through a form on our website.
