Pre-Pharmacy

Pharmacists serve a critical role in healthcare and medication management. An invaluable member of the healthcare team, pharmacists are critical to a patient’s wellness. Pharmacists have direct patient contact acting in the role of problem solver and educating their patients and other members of the health care team.

Prepare to Lead

ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ students can take a traditional route and earn either a four-year Bachelor of Science degree at ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½, completing all of the pre-pharmacy prerequisite courses, and then apply for a graduate pharmacy school during their senior year or after they graduate. They may also take a streamlined route, for students with a strong interest in a liberal arts education and a career in pharmacy. ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ and the University of Maryland offer the 3:4 Pharmacy Program. Through this program, students may earn a bachelor of science degree from ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ and a doctor of pharmacy degree (Pharm. D.) from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy (UMDSOP). A Pharm.D. is the current standard for today’s pharmacists.
